Stancey Smith, recipient of the Global Missions Scholarship at Bangalore Baptist Hospital

Stancey Smith is a junior nursing student at The Samford University Ida V. Moffett School of Nursing in Birmingham, Alabama. She was the recipient of the Global Missions Scholarship that allowed her the opportunity to participate in an 8-week internship at Bangalore Baptist Hospital in India. Stancey contacted Samaritan Medical Outreach Ministries to facilitate her internship. Stancey interned from June 17th – August 11th 2015.

When asked what impacted her most about this experience she stated, “I was most impacted by the sense of community in the labor room. The doctors and nurses truly work together as a team, striving to provide the most effective care to both the mothers and newborns. I found the staff and students to be welcoming and eager to teach me new ways to care for patients. Every staff member that I came in contact with, whether doctor, nurse, or administrator, showed a combination of professionalism and care that I will never forget.”
